Information for Parents
Established relationships with parents means we can share information positively and effectively to support all children at Aunty's Child Care!
-
Hours of Operation
Aunty's Child Care opens at 6:30 AM and is open until 5:30 PM.
-
Communication
Open communication between parents and Aunty's staff is extremely vital. Staff are encouraged to learn what is important to you as a parent and to keep that information in mind when working with your child.
-
Balanced Structure
We have a daily schedule to add structure and balance to your child’s day, and fill the hours not with TV, but with arts & crafts, educational flash cards, games, puzzles, music and dancing, story time, and toy time.
-
Nutrition
Healthy eating is the cornerstone foundation of Aunty's Child Care! Children are encouraged to taste a variety of healthy foods but no child is ever forced to eat foods that they do not wish to.

Healthy Nutrition for Growing Children
Healthy eating is the cornerstone of our program at Aunty's Child Care. Children do not get nearly enough nutrition education in school, so we strive to promote healthy eating habits and good eating choices!

Understanding children’s behavior
Behavior Guidance
Positive and consistent techniques are used at both Aunty's locations to encourage children whose actions are both appropriate and inappropriate.
Preferred Practices
We start with empathy, use facial expressions and positive verbal and gestural reinforcement for appropriate behavior, redirection of inappropriate behavior
When age-appropriate, encouraging the use of active communication amongst peers to solve an issue. Use the phrase 'how can we solve this problem?'
Teaching and practicing of preferred behaviors in order to help children habituate skills and learn self-discipline, role play, and guidance
Offering children age-appropriate choices and assisting them to follow through
- Allowing children to make 'affordable mistakes' to learn and grow from their own choices
- Utilize catch phrases such as 'love you too much to argue' and 'it's okay to feel sad'
- Help children figure out what to do with big emotions such as anger and make appropriate choices when they feel mad
Prohibited Practices
Corporal punishments of any child (spanking, hitting, shaking, etc.)
Deliberate harsh or degrading measures that would humiliate a child or undermine a child's self respect (threatening, verbal abuse, yelling, etc.)
Deprivation of basic needs (food, clothing, shelter, cot etc)
Confining in a locked room
Locking the exits of Aunty's Child Care for the purpose of confining
